About

Originally from China, I came to the United States for graduate school at the University of Georgia, where I earned a master’s degree in accounting. After graduation, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area for work. I have worked in auditing, SOX compliance advisory, and corporate accounting for companies of various sizes and industries. I was a licensed CPA and CMA, and I also passed all exams for CISA.

After experiencing different areas of the accounting profession, I decided to delve deeper into the academic side of the field, leading me to pursue a PhD. I’m incredibly grateful to have been accepted into the program at UC Berkeley, where I’ve had the privilege of learning from and collaborating with exceptional students and faculty.

What excites me most about accounting research is the intellectual challenge it presents. I find great joy in creating knowledge through research and sharing knowledge through teaching. Outside of my academic pursuits, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, immersing myself in nature, reading thought-provoking books, exploring new-found recipes, and giving back to the community.

Family

“What I love most about my home is who I share it with.”

I’m blessed with an incredibly supportive husband and a sweet daughter who bring many joys to my life.

Nature

“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.”

As a nature lover, I’ve summited Mount Kilimanjaro, scuba dived in the Great Barrier Reef, and visited over 30 national parks across North America.

Books

“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.”

Good books nourish my soul and broaden my perspective on life and the world. I enjoy reading biographies and books about education, history, psychology, and philosophy.

Foods

“Happiness is great food and great company.”

I enjoy cuisines from around the world and find it fun to recreate restaurant dishes at home following online recipes. It also gives me immense joy to share homemade foods with family and friends.

Volunteering

“You have two hands: one to help yourself, the second to help others.”

I’ve been very fortunate to get help from many kind people throughout my journey, and I’m committed to giving back to the community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if I can help. I am also particularly passionate about helping underprivileged children and hope to contribute as much as I can to this cause.
